On March 12, Mr. Tiong Chiong Yong, General Manager of Evergreen Group Holdings, a New Zealand log supplier, visited the Orient Group headquarters with the logging manager, shipping manager, chief administrative officer, and sales director for China. The Chairman and General Manager of Orient Group jointly welcomed the delegation and held cordial and sincere discussions on cooperation.
Founded over half a century ago in Malaysia, Evergreen Group Holdings is a Fortune Global 500 company operating diversified businesses across forestry, aquaculture, agriculture, real estate, media, shipping, biotechnology, petrochemicals, and more. With an annual turnover exceeding USD 5 billion, it is one of the earliest international multinational companies to invest in Mainland China following China’s reform and opening-up. Evergreen Group Holdings owns listed real estate and salmon farming companies in New Zealand and Australia, and is the largest foreign forestry owner in New Zealand. Mr. Tiong, who is responsible for Evergreen Group Holdings’ business operations in New Zealand and Australia, was the sole Chinese representative at the business forum between Premier Li Qiang and New Zealand’s business community during the Premier’s visit to New Zealand last year.
Since last year, our Group has entered into a long-term cooperation agreement with Evergreen Group Holdings for the importation of New Zealand logs into China. At present, we import an average of 40,000 cubic meters of logs monthly from Evergreen, with a value of approximately USD 5 million. Going forward, both parties intend to broaden the collaboration into further business areas as the partnership develops.
